Court documents state Carlos Morales told the victim “you did this to yourself” and “you should have known this would happen”.
SAN ANGELO, Texas — A San Angelo man was arrested Friday, Feb. 25, and charged with aggravated sexual assault.
According to Tom Green County Jail records, Carlos Edgar Morales was booked into the jail at 2:21 p.m. Friday.
An arrest affidavit states Morales sexually assaulted a woman without her consent and in the same incident, hit her with a metal bat.
The documents state a San Angelo Police officer was called to a San Angelo home early Friday morning in reference to an “unknown problem”. A woman was found by two officers near the intersection of Knickerbocker Road and South Bryant Boulevard. She told the officers Morales had hit her multiple times with the bat.
Officers found Morales at a home on Murphy Street. Morales requested an attorney and would not speak to officers, the affidavit stated.
An SAPD officer said the bat was found outside the home.
The woman was taken to Shannon Medical Center and an officer said the victim identified Morales by name to medical staff and told them he forced her to perform oral sex on him.
The victim told police Morales had picked her up from a local motel and offered her $300 to “pretend to be his girlfriend”, the affidavit said. She said he drove her to his home and started becoming “disrespectful” towards her. She said she told him to stop being disrespectful at which point, Morales produced the bat and started hitting her with it.
The victim told police she was not able to move her arms because the blows from the bat hurt her. She then told officers, according to the affidavit, that Morales stood over her and forced her to perform oral sex on him while threating to hit her again with the metal bat.
According to the affidavit, Morales then told her to remove her clothes from his bed while telling her “you did this to yourself” and “you should have known this would happen”.
The affidavit states several injuries were evident on the victim, including a bruised and swollen right hand, blood near her right ear and possible fractures to both arms.
Morales bond was set at $250,000.
