SAN ANGELO — A man from Orange, Texas, has been arrested after a San Angelo woman received multiple death threats, according to an arrest affidavit.
In July 2021, a San Angelo woman filed a complaint about a family member assaulting her by choking. On Jan. 27, 2022, the woman contacted law enforcement again due to the man calling and threatening her, records state.

The calls spanned from 2 p.m. Jan. 27 through 3:41 p.m. Jan. 28 through three different cell phone numbers.
According to the affidavits:
The first call was at 2:51 p.m. Thursday, when a man told her “I’m glad you’re back in town. I am going to find you (expletive).”
At 6:08 p.m., the same man said “You’re such a dumb (expletive), where are you?”
At 6:24 p.m., the same number calls and states “I’m going to shoot you in the head. Where you at?” At this point, San Angelo police were monitoring the calls.
At 6:44 p.m.: A new number calls and the same man asks where she is.
At 3:41 p.m. Jan. 28: Another number calls while the woman met with a deputy. She put the call on speaker and the man said, “I am going to kill you.”
Law enforcement arrested Chad Dillon Hoffpauir, 35, Saturday on suspicion of stalking, threatening bodily injury or death. He remained in Tom Green County Detention Center in lieu of a $150,000 bond as of 11 a.m. Monday, according to online jail records.

They can help people navigate protective orders, compensation applications, create an escape plan, assist with law enforcement and offer limited funds for assistance.
